Disaster Shamans are a mirror image of the strange times we live. Guiding audiences and listeners alike through the destruction, isolation and hope that is modern survivalA collaboration between Stephan Wieland (music) and Matthew McFarlane (words).With a friendship that dates back a decade or 2 these guys have an innate understanding of each other and blend together like coffee and cigarettes.
Elektronika Hydroponika is their debut EP, born out of the frustrations we all felt during covid lockdown, this danceable ,cheeky piece of social commentary keeps the audience guessing” What could come next?”
They met in Newcastle nsw early 2000s, Stephan moved to Melbourne to wear black, Matthew stayed in Newcastle and opened Franky’s Dumplings and Noodles. A Jazz venue in Carrington, Newcastle NSW.They long distanced this thing out and intend on playing dingey dives and smelly festivals for the next decade , or until Matthew is moved into a retirement village.Stephan’s music credits include Dead Pilot, The Stain, Enter ESC and the Drift.Matthew’s efforts include The Stain, Say No to Golf, Breeze, Franky’s House Band and Mojo Juju and the Snake Oil Merchants. The TV pilots Over Newcastle Tonight and The Unreal Housewives of Newcastle.
